From staff reports
Illinois Sen. Barack Obama’s presidential campaign is planning a large outdoor rally for Wednesday evening at Sewell Park. Local volunteers for Obama’s campaign said organizers are expecting as many as 10,000 people for the rally, which will come less than a week before the March 4 primary election.
The event is the latest high-profile visit to put San Marcos front-and-center in the presidential campaign. Chelsea Clinton just left town after speaking to about 100 people at the Hays County courthouse on behalf of her mother, New York Sen. Hillary Clinton. Sen. Ted Kennedy spoke for Obama on Thursday at a rally on the Texas State University campus.
