From Texas State University News Service

The Texas State University’s women’s recreational club soccer team will host a Valentines 5K Run For Your Heart at 8 a.m. Feb. 23 at the Bobcat Sports Complex.

The run is open to the public and pre-registration is available online for $12. Participants can also register on the day of the event for $20. The first 100 participants to enter will receive a free first aid kit supplied by Central Texas Medical Center.

All participants are eligible for free health screenings provided by members of the Texas State Department of Respiratory Care and will receive gift bags for participating.

Proceeds from the event will support the women’s recreational soccer club in their efforts to host their first tournament on Mar. 21-23. Christopher Thompson, spokesperson for the team, said that everyone is encouraged to participate.

“Students, alumni and area residents are all welcome to come out and support us,” Thompson said. “We are trying to raise funds to have a quality tournament for our soccer team.”

To pre-register for the 5K run visit www.campusrecreation.txstate.edu/wsoccer. For more information on the event contact Thompson at (210) 859-8249.
