More than a dozen San Marcos High School band members are advancing to state competition after accumulated superior ratings in solo and ensemble regional contests held Saturday.

“These students not only performed well, they dignified themselves as mature ladies and gentlemen,” said Kelly Rushfeldt, who directs the band with Damon Knight.
