From the Noon Lions Club

The San Marcos Noon Lions Club had a successful 62nd annual Mexican Dinner and appreciate the little over 800 community members that stopped by to enjoy the tamales, rice, beans, and guacamole. We want to thank Chef Thompson and her students with the Culinary Arts Department of Gary Job Corps for preparing the tasty food and the Gary HOPE students for helping serve the food at the San Marcos City Park Pavillon. Dr. Galvan and Mrs. Galvan of San Marcos prepared the guacamole and sold 318 tickets. Mayor Susan Narvaiz and Councilman Chris Jones presented the Lions with a proclamation honoring their service to the community.

All proceeds from the Lions Mexican Dinner and the Lions Tube Rental go directly and completely back into the community. The San Marcos Noon Lions Club gives generously to local organizations and events that improve the quality of life for local residents in San Marcos and Hays County, everything from youth sports and the river to abuse centers and the food bank. In addition, San Marcos Lions serve in other parts of the world through the Texas Eye Glass Recycling Center and the Lone Star Eye Bank. Many of our Lions have traveled to other countries giving the gift of clear sight to those who could not afford the luxury of eyeglasses. The Noon Lions gives special recognition to local high school students through student of the week and scholarships to seniors.
