From staff reports
A wayward kite blown into a power line caused a brief electric outage for parts of downtown and Texas State University yesterday afternoon.
No one was injured when the large kite got entwined in a transmission line behind Jowers Center on Aquarena Springs Drive, city spokesperson Melissa Millecam said. Power was off for about 25 minutes starting at 3 p.m. before San Marcos electric utility crews restored service.
Winds averaging 25 mph on Thursday, kite runners were out in numbers.
We had another power outage Tuesday March 11th. Went to Sam’s Club and they said power in the area was out and that is why they couldn’t let customers into the store.
