News8Austin looks at the proposed rental registration and inspection system being drafted by a workgroup of residents (and several non-residents). Fire Marshal Ken Bell says, “It takes rules and regulations that we utilize for multi-family dwellings and equalizes that spectrum across the board in the city.” (See also Newstreamz coverage, including Bell’s presentation to the city council back in September). … Two Buda city council members have already announced their intent to run for mayor of the corridor city, The Hays Highway reports. Bobby Lane and Hutch White both say they will run to be the first mayor elected under that city’s new home rule charter, replacing John Trube who is leaving his term early to focus on business. … KVUE News touts MovieMaker Magazine’s designation of Austin as the No. 1 place to make movies, owing in part to its good base of film workers and studio space.
