The Department of Theatre and Dance at Texas State University-San Marcos presents Marina Carr’s surreal play Low in the Dark Jan. 31-Feb. 3.
Directed by Richie Wilcox, performances will be Jan. 31-Feb. 2 at 7:30 p.m. with a 2 p.m. matinee performance Feb. 3 at the PSH Foundation Studio Theatre in the Theatre Center on campus.
Low in the Dark is an absurdist exploration of the nuances of gender, language and religion from Carr, one of Ireland’s leading playwrights. The surreality begins with mother and daughter bickering over who has just given birth, progresses to a man discovering he is pregnant and then advances to even stranger situations.
Due to subject matter, the play is recommended for mature audiences.
Admission is $8 for the general public and $5 for students with a Texas State ID. Tickets can be purchased at the University Box Office in the Theatre Center , located at the corner of Moon Street and University Drive and available by phone at (512) 245-2204.
