City to honor board members

San Marcos will welcome dozens of new board and commission members and honor outgoing members at a special reception Thursday, January 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the Activity Center, 501 E. Hopkins.

More than 250 board members who have been appointed by the City Council to serve on 27 boards have been invited to be special guests at the event. The Council made its annual appointments to City boards in December, with terms of new members beginning in January.

Mayor Susan Narvaiz and Council Members will recognize outgoing board members with the presentation of certificates. Mayor Narvaiz will then conduct a swearing-in ceremony for new members.

Following the reception, Interim City Clerk Shelley Goodwin, City Attorney Michael Cosentino and Interim City Manager Collette Jamison will present an orientation session for new appointees. They will review general board and commission rules, meeting rules and procedures, ethics, and liability issues.
