Texas State student group teaches interview skills at Gary Job Corps

Reporter and Anchor

The Students in Free Enterprise team of Texas State University spent the fall 2007 semester providing the Gary Job Corps students with guidance on how to market themselves for job interviews.

SIFE member Jennifer Atkinson said the How to Market Yourself project helped many students learn how to dress for an interview, the correct way to introduce yourself, and other interview tips.

“The information taught at Gary Job Corps is beneficial in helping the students understand their goals and how to be successful,” Atkinson said. The How to Market Yourself program encourages students to think about their futures and helps to provide an opportunity to reach their goals.

The Gary Job Corps is a federal job corps center with the goal of recruiting students to educate them to meet the needs of the changing job market. The Texas State Students in Free Enterprise organization is set on teaching free enterprise in order to better individuals, communities, and countries. SIFE’s goals are met through community outreach projects that provide the student members the opportunity to teach others.
