Join Conley Car Wash & Detail on December 8, 2007 for our 5th annual Car Wash Fundraiser benefiting the Greater San Marcos Youth Council’s Children’s Shelter. Over the last four years, together we’ve raised over $15,000 dollars for the children in the shelter and we could not do it without the help of other businesses and individuals in Hays County.
Last year, the 16-bed shelter cared for 174 abused or neglected children. Of the 768 completed investigations of alleged abuse and neglect by Hays County Child Protective Services, 350 children were confirmed as victims. Also, in 2006, there were 155 Hays County children living in foster care (includes shelter care and residential treatment centers).
The primary goal of the shelter is to remain open 365 days per year, staffed with trained, caring individuals in a safe, structured and supportive environment. GSMYC staff nurture each child by assisting him/her to rebuild positive self-worth and help them recover physically and emotionally, which is imperative if he/she is to become a productive member of society.
If you would like to help in providing a safe haven for the forgotten children of Hays County, there are several ways to participate! Starting November 1st, Conley Car Wash will start selling $1 paper cars to benefit the shelter, display the silent auction and have a donation bin for “wish list” items.
December 8th, 15% of every car wash and detail is donated to the shelter and GSMYC will sell sausage wraps and baked goods all day.
